❤️⭐Farmer Mally & Her Happy Herd
There once was a dairy filled with comfy happy cows. The cows mooed happily, often, and loud. The cows ate clover and their moos were jolly, the cows felt warm, safe, and loved their farmer Mally.
The cows were comfy in their tiny little valley, there was plenty of clover, but more importantly, they had farmer Mally. Mally was goodness and Mally was kindness. She loved creatures big and critters small; and showed them care and patience, not just some but for all.
Mally was a farmer of the dairy variety and loved her gentle herd, knowing each moo by name and cherished every curd. She hummed while she tended them, and she'd laugh and she'd sing. The happiest dairy, the joy she would bring!
A Stormy Evening
The lovely cows would munch and play, tasty clover and even hay. Mally knew every face and every udder. Mally's hands were warm, and they made the best butter. One night in the summer there was a stormy evening. Then lightning cracked the sky and thunder rolled in. The dairy went still and the lights, well they all went dim.
Spooked hooves and scared moos. The cows ran into their barn. Huddled in the dark, on their cozy little farm. But what was this? Can you hear that? Here comes Mally! And she's singing, humming, so they mooed right back!
"Good evening my little moos, Mally is here. Please do not be scared, there is nothing to fear" — and this was more than music, it was what made them happy, she was their farmer Mally.
Hello, Buddy!
The night was long, and she cooed her moos till morning. And when the sun came up, well, it was time for the dairy, and Mally, to get going. But before she left the barn, she checked on churners, especially the lines, and what do you think happened or whom did she find? A little bar of butter, honest and kind.
Mally beamed and so did the moos. This little stick of butter smiled and he was also very polite. "It is important to be polite and respectful to new people you may meet, regardless of whether or not they are moo, Mally, or tasty buttery treat. We never have to hug, we never have to shake. But we should be kind and understanding, because that's how best friend-cakes are baked!"
The kindest little butter bar, filled with wisdom beyond his years. Mally called him Buddy, so did the Jerseys, and so did the Guernseys. Buddy the Butter Buddy, like Mally, was goodness and kind. He was very brave and gave high fives and fist-bumps, all the time.
Buddy Finds His Calling
Buddy loved to help and his favorite was to help teach. Lucky Mally had a new helper, especially for little things out of reach. "We must try to help when helping costs nothing!" he'd happily squeak!
One nice warm day in September, Buddy asked Mally a question. "What is it little Butter Buddy?" she gave the sweet little stick her full attention. Buddy was nervous for all that he was brave, and said "Mally I would like to help teach more than moos, but I am scared and afraid" — and Mally beamed and said "Buddy my little Butter Buddy, there is just nothing to fear. With a heart like yours, we'll always be near."
Like Buddy, it is okay to be scared of a new place or meeting new faces. Like Buddy, you could be brave if you wanted, or you could be quiet too, not all responses are warranted. A bar like Buddy is brave and strong; but he's also truthful, and knows his feelings are important. It is important we don't do things that feel wrong.
